Asian American Taboo's hosted by the ASC

Taboos with Dr. Andrew Lee and Ji Lee:
This workshop comprises of a discussion of what's taboo in the asian american community and why. it's everything from feeling like you have to major in business or pre-med because you can't tell your parents that you want to do something else, to sex and sexuality, to why we think serious problems should be taken care of within the immediate family because they're embarrassing and shouldn't be talked about with psychiatrists or counselors.
 
Sex & Sexuality Workshop

Sex and Sexuality with Calvin Sun:
How do Asian Americans view sex and sexuality? How does this generation reconcile our definition of sex with that of the old and new cultural interpretations of Asia? From the Kama Sutra to the asexual model minority to the imbalance of Asian Americans women and men in pornography, we're raising the bar and asking you to analyze that very carefully guarded core of our existences: SEX.
Stereotypes Forum:
Incorporating representatives from each cultural organization including, KSA, RAPS, TASA, CSO, RONS, RCC, and AIR, we will discuss the many stereotypes that reside in the Asian American Community. An emcee from ASC and aKDPhi will dictate the discussion through a series of questions directed at every ethnicity residing on the panel, some more specific than others. Considering the widespread diversity this event attracts, the vitality of the workshop is also significantly composed of the audience's inputs, reactions, and views.
PB & J Drive:
Going with the theme of "Giving Back to the Community", Asian Student Council teamed up with Elijah's Promise to create 150 bagged lunches comprised of primarily peanut butter & jelly sandwiches in an overall effort to give those less fortunate than us one less meal to worry about.
Valentine's Day Org Mixer:
A Valentine's Day themed mixer incorporating many of the Asian-American organizations residing here at Rutgers featuring food, games, and prizes.
Schmoozing and Boozing with Calvin Sun:
This workshop will assess your skills and confidence in the professional world, especially the differences between Western and Eastern forms of courtesy. We will even shatter some stereotypes and debunk some myths along the way. After this workshop, you'll finally know the difference between business casual and business professional, wine and champagne, black and white tie affairs.
Spoken Word and APA Activism with Ben Alisuag:
In this workshop, Ben Alisuag recounts his career in APA activism and executes an excellent performance featuring powerful and vivid segments created through his life as a spoken artist.
